ACTIVIST. Daryl Hannah has paved the way for herself as an autistic activist, actor and producer. She is currently dating rock musician Neil Young.

Daryl Hannah is best known for starring in movies such as “Kill Bill: Vol 2,” “The Blade Runner,” and “Sense8” as well as on television. She was also the mermaid in “Splash.” And Hannah has autism.

According to Today.com, “she fought a private battle with autism for years and told People magazine that when she was a child, doctors wanted to put her in an institution.”

Hannah was born in Chicago in 1960. She graduated from the University of Southern California School of Theatre. Afterwards, she started acting in small roles, which led to her big break, starring as Pris in “The Blade Runner” in 1982.

She has acted, directed, and produced multiple pieces of work, but she now considers her real job to be an activist.

As an environmental activist, Hannah has been arrested five times for protesting and standing up for what she believes in.

Very recently, Hannah has returned as a feature film director. According to Reuters.com, “Paradox” stars music greats Neil Young and Willie Nelson. It premiers on May 23 at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin and will stream on Netflix.

“It is good that people are starting to at least acknowledge that there is an issue there and that it is something that needs to be addressed,” Hannah said to Today.com, referring to sexual harassment.

Hannah is continuing to be an activist, actor, producer, and director.
