  • JUST DO IT. JV Boys Soccer Captain Benjamin Margolis goes for the ball while playing a home game against Newport Central Catholic High School. The team consists of freshman and sophomores. “I love playing soccer because it is a mixture of teamwork, competition and sportsmanship,” Margolis said.

  • COLLIDE. Freshman Grant Darbyshire collides into his opponent while hitting a header. The team is coached by Ryan Reed. Besides playing games, the boys have gained more skills by scrimmaging against other teams and not just their own team-mates.

  • ON THE FIELD. Freshman Chad Miller kicks the ball into play. The boys are done with their season and have played 15 games. Their record was 6-8-2. “I tried out because soccer is very fun to me and because I thought it would be a good social experience. I like the kids on the team and that we have a lot of fun,” Miller said.

  • KICK OR MISS. One of the other captains, sophomore Adam Rohr, plays goalie. The boys started training in June to get ready for tryouts and the rest of the season. Unfortunately two of the boys games this season have been cancelled due to the weather. “I have had a lot of fun playing soccer this season. While we can’t win every game, trying hard and having fun is super important,” Margolis said.

  • RUN FOR IT. Captain Kyle Heppler is trying to steal the ball back for the Aves. Unfortunately, the game ended in a lost for SHS. NCC scored 2 goals while Sycamore scored 0.
