Aves Theater brings Tuck Everlasting to life

  • SING IT. The 2019 fall production “Tuck Everlasting” took place on Nov. 8, 9, 15, and 16. Featuring the members of seventh bell acting ensemble, this musical followed the story of a family who lives forever, the girl who discovered their secret, and the troubles that ensued. Here, Bethany Brown, 12, and Payton Hines, 10, perform together during a dress rehearsal. Brown plays Mae Tuck, the mother of the family, and Hines plays Winnie Foster, the young girl who befriends the family.

  • 911. Andre Harte, 12, played the constable, the character that was tasked with locating Winnie Foster. Harte will also appear in other Aves Theater productions this year including “She Kills Monsters” and “Newsies”.

  • BEST FRIENDS. Hines and Casey Johnson, 12, performed an elaborate song and dance together during a scene set at the fair. “Tuck Everlasting” is a musical based on Natalie Babbitt’s 1975 children’s novel. The musical version was published in 2015 and appeared on Broadway.

  • LEAP. During the fair scene, characters danced in an elaborate series of jumps and turns. The play is set in Treegap, New Hampshire and featured striking sets, including full-sized trees and a large house front. Although the specific year the play is set in is not specified, the retro style costumes and setting are indicative of the past.

  • BRIGHT. Here, Eli Cohen, 12, plays “the Man in the Yellow Suit” held up by his cast members at the end of their number “Everything’s golden”. Cohen played the antagonist trying to profit off of the Tuck’s secret of eternal life. Aves Theater’s next production “She Kills Monsters” will take place on Jan. 30 and Feb. 1, and 2.
