Summer Activites

Five summer activity ideas for this summer

Summer break has almost arrived. Of course, everyone is looking forward to relaxing for three months. While most may already have plans to lounge on the couch and binge-watch their favorite shows, or travel out of the city to a variety of different areas, I know some of us do not have plans for break. So, here is a list of five things you should do this summer:

Go camping
Spend some time outdoors by camping. You can even invite friends and family along with you! Be sure to bring marshmallows and chocolate along with you because let’s face it—what is camping without s’mores?

Take a road trip
If you cannot full-on travel out-of-state, try going on a road trip. You can bring snacks, listen to music, and just enjoy the ride while bonding with your friends or family along the way. If you do not feel like going far, simply drive around the city and go sightseeing. Remember, as author Penelope Riley once said, “It is not the destination where you end up but the mishaps and memories you create along the way!”

Go on a picnic
What is summer without a picnic? Going on a picnic with someone else, whether they are a friend or a family member, is a great way to experience the outdoors while also staying close to home. You could even just sit in your backyard! Be sure to bring food, games, music, and/or other activities to enjoy while you spend time outside.

Try something new
It is always great to try new things, and when is a better time to try something new than summer break? You could try out a new game, or a new sport, or even a new food. Maybe you could visit somewhere you have never been before, or talk to someone you have not spoken to before. The possibilities are endless.

Do a random act of kindness
Smile at a stranger. Donate some of your books to charity. Help someone carry something that may be heavy. There are countless ways you can help someone else. Besides, nothing beats the feeling of seeing someone’s smile and knowing that you are the one who put it there.
