Every year, the dedicated students of the theater program work day after day to perform just three shows three times each. Their latest one, “Grease”, takes place from 7-9 p.m. from April 23 to April 25. Tickets are $12.
To get more insight into the work going into this performance, The Leaf interviewed Henry Bromels, 10. Bromels plays the part of Eugene, the comic-relief character who is portrayed as a nerd in the play. “I was a little iffy on [playing] him at first, but I think I’ve warmed up to him,” Bromels said.
Bromels also talked about the choreography, which he said was well-rounded and easy to learn. The choreography for the show is taught by the school’s choreographer, Emily Fry. With Fry, the members of the cast have learned a multitude of dance steps, such as the ball change and box step. Members of the cast have also been assigned dance partners, but sometimes cast members pair up with members of the ensemble. These partners will be together for the final showing of the play.

Bromels also praised the set crew, which has been helping build the set for the play. “Mostly it’s the crew who works on it (the set) after school, but oftentimes in class we’ll work on some set construction,” Bromels noted. “ [Still,] everything’s really coming together nicely.” Overall, production for the spring musical is wrapping up and students are ready to present their work.
