The Flyerettes competed at OASSA Regionals Feb. 2. Their goal was to qualify for State. The team has been working all year for these competitions.

The girls practice twice a week and perform at the boys Varsity basketball games, to get extra practice time. The team dances their pom at the basketball games that gives them a chance to fix any mistakes before competing for a panel of judges.

Even though competition season is over, the team is preparing for the last five games of the basketball season and performing at a UC women’s basketball game.  These will be their last performances of the season before it is time for tryouts for next year.

The Flyerettes consists of 19 girls, 12 who are seniors. The team will be losing over half of their members. It will be important to gain members for next season.

Abbey Baker, Managing Editor
I am a sophomore. I am 15 years old and this is my second year on The Leaf staff. My passion in life is dance. I enjoy dancing because I love to express myself through movement. My favorite subject is history. A movie I think everyone should watch is "Safe Haven." Ten years from now I see myself at college working to become an interior designer. My favorite book is "The Last Song" by Nicholas Sparks. In my music library you would find 90 percent of it to be dance songs.
