Recently there has been an obsession not seen since Flappy Bird, except this time, instead of jumping through pipes, you have to do math.

The game revolves around the idea of combining blocks of the same number to form a bigger number. As you combine blocks new numbers spawn at different points over the game board.

For example you have two, two blocks and combine them to get a four block. The goal of the game is to get to a single block of 2048. At that point you can then choose to stop or continue playing to try and get an even greater block.

Even though the concept behind this game is simple the overall task of winning the game is very challenging because of the limited number of squares and the size that the numbers get. It is very popular, not only in Sycamore, but is number one on iTunes top 100 free apps.

There’s no telling how long this app will continue to dominate discussion and peoples time. Will it be the next flappy bird, no one can tell now but it is sure starting to look like it could be.
