Throughout Ethan Kadish’s story of recovery, WCPO  has followed him, his family, Team Ethan and the community during this trying time. Their focus to cover now is Team Ethan.

Ethan, a 13 year old Loveland boy, was struck by lightning at the Jewish summer camp, Goldman Union Camp Institute (GUCI) in Zionsville, Indiana on June 29. His story has been spread around the country through social media.

Team Ethan is the support group founded to help the Kadish family with expenses, food, hospital shifts and taking care of his siblings, Zack Kadish and Elyse Kadish.

“I now know the WCPO people and they know me. They ask me about school and camp as friends, not reporters,” said Elyse.

WCPO’s first phase was to focus on the family. To write on Team Ethan, they will interview families, including SHS students. The stories will come out later in the summer on their website.

Ethan has been covered through broadcasts on Channel 9 news at night as well as articles, videos and images online. They have been following the story since news broke out of the accident to Ethan’s return home to fundraisers.

Two WCPO workers: Lucy May and Emily Maxwell —whose brother graduated from SHS—have  come to Team Ethan members’ houses and the Kadish residence to interview them and take pictures.
