Jack Brownlee, Staff Writer
Hello there, my name is Jack Brownlee and this is my second year as a Staff Writer on the Leaf. I am currently a senior at Sycamore high school. I initially decided to join the Leaf because it seemed like a great opportunity for me to improve my skills as a writer and to cover topics that I care about, and I am excited to continue to do so this year. One thing I am extremely passionate about is music. I listen to a wide variety, from hip-hop to soul to electronic, and I love to actively seek out and listen to new types of music. It’s one of my favorite things to write about, and I hope to keep improving at writing about it throughout my second year with the Leaf. Another one of my favorite hobbies is fashion. I have been taking sewing classes at Sycamore for a few years now, and although I still have lots of room to grow both in skills and creativity, I love to create and bring to life my ideas for projects. My main objective while designing is to create something that I would want to wear, personally. Along with creating, I love to consume fashion content, from runway shows to streetwear, and everything in between. Outside of school hours, I play on the Academic Quiz Team and the Ultimate Frisbee team and I am a member of the Ski Club. In addition, I serve on my temple’s youth group board, which has not only given me the chance to meet new people but also has allowed me to become more involved with my Jewish community through social action. This is something that I find very important, as repairing the world is an important part of Judaism, and even in the context of small, local, events I can make a difference. Overall, I am excited to be a part of the Leaf again, and look forward to a great year!
