Jalawn Monroe, Assistant Promotional Director & Broadcasting Director
Hello, reader! My name is Jalawn Monroe. I’m a senior and a second-year journalism student! I’m currently on staff and work as a promotion assistant and broadcasting director for The Leaf.
I like to think of myself as creative. I joined this class because I’m looking into minoring in public relation and communications in college. I wouldn’t say I’m the best writer, but I love talking to people and having people share stories with me. I am dedicated to being a lifelong learner. You are allowed to freely express your own writing view and add personal touches to your writing. It is such a cool privilege to get to work with all ages of creative writers to make something fun for everybody.
This year, I’m helping open up the broadcasting program with our advisor, Miss Brownlee. I am so excited to extend our Leaf family and open up a new opportunity for students to help create and expand The Leaf‘s digital footprint.
Outside of school, I have an internship with our district office’s Public Relations Coordinator. I also participate in Black Student Union and work as a Starbucks barista at Target. On the side, I volunteer with Operation Give Back, something my family has been doing actively for 10 years. That has opened up a whole new family for me and has been such a fun and cool experience.
I hope you guys hear or read something from me soon!
