Delegates from SHS and schools around the world discuss international issues during the MUN University of Chicago (MUNUC) conference. The club plans to attend this conference again this February. “MUNUC was one of the highlights of my junior year. It was a lot of work but also a ton of fun,” said senior Isaac Harmon.

The Model United Nations (MUN) Club has finished up their first conference and begun preparation for the next conference.

On Sept. 20, the club attended a local conference at Mount Notre Dame. This World Cities Summit allowed delegates to each represent a city from anywhere in the world.

“Because this conference is so small it’s a really good learning experience for all our new people,” senior and MUN president Nakul Narendran said.

In Nov, the club will attend the University of Dayton MUN (UDMUN) conference.

“UDMUN is always fun and I love going every year. We always are one of the best schools there who win some of the most awards,” senior Talia Bailes said.

The club met on Sept. 24 to plan for the upcoming conference. Officers collected forms and money, taught members how to write position papers and discussed proper etiquette and vocabulary for committees.

“We have a ton of new members this year that are all really excited, so SHS MUN will definitely continue to be very successful,” said Narendran.
