As the end of the fall sports season comes to an abrupt end, baseball players have begun their quest for the GMC title. Conditioning will begin in Dec. Tryouts will be held at the end of Feb.

Chris Shrimpton, Varsity baseball coach, along with the other JV and freshmen baseball coaches will be attending weight lifting to get a good idea of the potential players who show up.

Weight lifting began on Nov. 4. The drills consist of benching, curls with a dumbbell and bodybuilding with the use of free weights.

“Personally, I love to work out, it makes me feel good about my body,” sophomore Nicholas Wade said.

All of the weight training will build muscle along with endurance. In addition to weight training, conditioning will begin in the middle of Dec.

“Over the course of the five months that we condition, I could definitely see a difference in my muscles,” junior Jack Augenstein said.

Weight lifting will be on Mon., Wed., and Fri., while conditioning will be Tues.  and Thurs. beginning in December.

Last season, Varsity got off to a scorching start, winning the first seven games of the season. As the season approaches, the team will need to compete with Lakota West and Mason who were the top two teams in the Greater Miami Conference.

“After last season’s hot start for the varsity team, this year is looking great. I am really hoping to get past the first round in the playoffs,” senior Ryan McCann said.
