    • WILDFIRES. This summer, many states in the West coast suffered a disastrous season of wildfires resulting in dozens of deaths and the destruction of over 5 million acres of land. The fires caused concern over air quality as plumes of smoke have travelled all across the country. “Not only was the air quality poor, but the sky maintained a dismal orange tone that blocked out the sun.” “It looked like a scene from the Martian,” explained Morgan Taylor-Cohen, a high school student from the Bay Area, adding that “at 3 pm it felt like 3 am.”

      Face to face learning resumes

    • Pictured is the Google Meet homepage, something that students and teachers in 2020 know all too well. Although virtual students are used to attending class virtually through this interface, face-to-face students may be feeling nervous about adjusting once again during the upcoming week of virtual school. In order to ease some of these concerns, SHS principal Mr. Doug Mader explained the specifics of this week and beyond. He also reassured SHS students and staff, saying he thinks “it will be a very successful week.” Photo courtesy of Allison McElroy.

    • TMI. Many people use social media to share intimate details of their lives with their followers, which can result in oversharing. “I think people find it easier to share their ideas and thoughts through a screen,” Kendall Mather, 12.

      Too much information

    • BEEP! BEEP! That dreadful sound of an alarm in the morning. You look out the window and realize how light it really is outside. Now how did that happen? Well, Saturday night was daylight savings and all of the clocks in the US fell back 1 hour. We are now officially out of daylight savings time. The darkness though unfortunately gives Vivian Henry, 9, a “sad vibe.”
