Mark your calendars! On Nov. 5 from 6-6:30pm, the marching band will be performing to collect canned foods for Operation Give Back.
The performance will go on rain or shine. If the weather is nice, the band will perform at the SHS soccer stadium. If there is rain, the performance will take place in the main gym.
This is a great opportunity to see the marching Aviators perform their award winning show, “Vortex,” if you have not seen it yet. Either way, it is a great way to support your classmates, as well as the community.
“I think it’s going to be a fun night for everyone,” said Cassandra Cooper, color guard member, 10.
Some students are unsure of what to expect at the event.
“There’s going to be a lot going on, and there’s going to be something for everyone,” Cooper said.
There is no charge, but you are asked to bring two nonperishable food items for admission. There is no donation required for students in elementary school or younger.
This is a great opportunity for students of all ages to bond.
“I’m excited to see everyone and hang out with people I haven’t been able to hang out with all the time,” Cooper said.
Protein is always in need, so good donation items would be canned tuna, ham, or chicken.
Additionally, soup, ramen noodles, stew, ravioli, and other easy to prepare meals are great options. Canned fruit, jelly, and peanut butter are always wanted.
Finally, canned vegetables are great for families. Consider bringing canned green beans, peas, corn, carrots, and tomatoes.
The marching band has partnered with Operation Give Back to assure that families in need in our community are able to have a great holiday season.
