Tryouts are well underway at the Lindner Family Tennis Center, and have been going since Mar. 10.

On Mon. and Tues., many matches were played on all of the different courts. Many of the team members have gotten to play on center court (the main stadium), and there are lots more to come. The weather was great, with a high of 72°, allowing several singles matches to be played. The team members are loving the great weather.

“The weather is awesome, and great for tennis,” said Rohan D‘Souza, 10.

While the weather and courts have been great at the tennis center, the cold temperatures and bad weather came back on Wed. With low temperatures and snow/ice/rain, tryouts were cancelled.

With the limit on how low the temperature can be for tennis at 32°, Thurs practice will just narrowly happen, with temperatures hovering within about two degrees off of the limit. The temperatures are predicted to range from 35° to 32°, with 10 mile per hour wind, making for very tough conditions during tryouts.

“Even though it is cold and the conditions are tough, I am still excited to play at the Amazon Western Southern Open courts,” said Regis Liou, 9.

I play for the school team, who is one of the top ranked in the state. Last year, our A team was first in the state, our B team won the Sycamore Cup, and our JV team went undefeated. I love watching tennis, and keeping up with the Reds. I also love writing opinion articles. Last year, I wrote a few opinion pieces on things that happen in our school such as ACE, exams, and MAP testing. You can follow me on Twitter @jackoloon14, and on Instagram @jackoloon.
