Scrimmages gets off to a rocky start

The softball team has started playing scrimmages. Their first scrimmage was on Friday March 21st against Deer Park. It was a tight game the whole way through. Sycamore ended up losing 5-4 but the girls learned a lot from the game.

“I was the starting pitcher for that game. It was my first game playing with varsity and I was a little nervous but after the first couple of pitchers I was able to settle in and help my team the best I could,” said Liz Izworski, 9.

The next scrimmage was on Monday March 24th against Fenwick. SHS was winning most of the game. But in the seventh inning errors started to be made.

“I was really disappointed in losing that game because it is one of those games that we need to win. In a real game we cannot play like that,” said Lydia Sloan, 11.

Hannah Frey
Hannah Frey, Leaflet Editor in Chief
My name is Hannah Frey and this is my fourth year being a part of the Leaf staff. I joined the Leaf because I wanted to expand my involvement in the SHS community and I wanted to learn more about graphic design. I am passionate about social equality and the social injustices that occur in our affluent society. Being in this class has helped me to see that I want to work for a nonprofit organization and help solve these problems. I am currently the editor and chief of the Leaflet, which is our online, design-based magazine. Every issue, I pick a new topic to be covered. Using design to cover these issues attracts another audience for the Leaf and makes it entertaining to have an in-depth look about a topic. Journalism has helped shape the person I am today, and it will help me excel in my desired field of work.
