The winter dance will be more casual then Homecoming and Prom. Casual dress and no dates are part of the new idea. It will take place on Jan. 23.

Last year winter formal was canceled due to lack of interest. Student Council is working to reform the dance so that a winter activity will exist.
“I’m super happy because I was sad when it was canceled. I’m excited to get the opportunity to go again,” senior Natalie Miller said.

The event will take place on Jan. 23 after Hoops for Hope. Hoops for Hope is a basketball fundraiser, run by Student Council, for MS. The final game begins at 7:30 pm resulting in the dance frpm 9 pm to 11 pm.

“I’m happy that it’s going to be a shorter dance because by the end of other dances I’m ready to go,” junior Leila Kazemi said.

Winter will be much more casual. The idea is to have no dates or formal dress wear. This will decrease the price associated with going to a dance. The tickets will be five dollars with the option of buying glow bracelets for one dollar.

“We’re going to have a glow themed dance. Its name is ‘Dark Nights and Bright Lights’. We’ll have food and some great music,” committee head, sophomore, Isabelle Augustin said.
