DC Comics announces new TV series

Already with one of the best TV line ups of all time, DC is going full steam ahead in their building of franchises and universes. However, there are more show in existence than most know. This is a list to keep those straight.

The first of these shows is titled Supergirl. It stars Melissa Benoist as the 24 year old Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Superman. This show will start on CBS this fall and exist in the same universe as Arrow.

Kara is an office assistant in National City when she starts discovering her powers, learning to use them, with assistance from characters like Jimmy Olsen as she fights against classic villains from the comics.

The next show has a similar theme. Krypton is set to air on SyFy. While little details have been released so far, the show is meant to tell the story of superman’s home planet before its destruction.

A twist on a classic show, Teen Titans will be receiving a live action adaptation on TNT. Much like the Cartoon Network cartoon show, this show will feature well known adolescent superheroes. The air date for this is unknown.

Members of the team will include Robin, Starfire, Raven (fans may recognize them from the cartoon) and new faces Hawk and Dove. The most notable emissions are characters Beast Boy and Cyborg, which may appear later in the show.

DC’s final show will be called Legends of Tomorrow and will include familiar characters from the shows Flash and Arrow as they team up and travel through time to fight a supervillain named Vandal Savage.

In addition to new shows, DC has had many TV series air in the past few decades. You can check them out here. In the meantime, Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow all premiere this fall, so keep your eyes peeled for them.
