  • Strike up the band for hunger was a charity event that took place on Nov. 6th at 6:30. The event took place on the new soccer field. Cost of admission was two canned goods.

    '
  • The goal was to raise one thousand cans for Operation Give Back. Even though the cost was only two cans, many people brought in extras. By the end of the night they had exceeded their goal by almost 300 cans.

  • Not only did the award winning band perform but the color guard also took the field. The band performed their entire competition set. The set lasted about 15 minutes and the band finished with their company salute.

    '
  • Typically the band only does a shortened seven minute version of their routine at events. This time they had a competition the following day and used the opportunity to practice. This was the second to last time the band would perform during competition season.

    '
  • Senior drum major Gwen Constand said, “It was a really great way to end the season, by doing something charitable.” The turnout for the event was very strong. Parents and students came out to support the band and to see the full show.

    '
  • The theme of the band and color guard’s set was ‘get stretchy.’ In order to achieve this theme, the color guard had stretchable fabric and flexible rods. They incorporated their props in a way that showcases their throwing and acrobatic abilities.

    '
  • The band ‘got stretchy’ by using slides in their music and by combining different styles of music. The most elaborate was a combination of jazz and traditional marching band sounds. In the following competition the band scored second overall.
