Bayan Mahmoud al- Zahran

Saudi Attorney

Bayan Mahmoud al- Zahran became the first woman to be issued a law license in 2013. She opened Saudi Arabia’s first woman law firm in 2014. Although the firm represent both men and women, the main objective is to advocate for women in Saudi court, and bring cases centered around women to light. Woman who need advice and assistance may not be able to speak to male lawyers about their cases. In a country where it is hard for woman to make their voices heard, al- Zahran’s accomplishments are a large step forward.

Al- Zahran was featured on Fortune’s 2015 “World’s 50 Greatest Leaders.
“I believe women lawyers can contribute a lot to the legal system. This law firm will make a difference in the history of court cases and female disputes in the Kingdom. I am very hopeful and thank everyone who supported me in taking this historical step.”
