It’s the start of something new! Some students had the opportunity to meet Mrs. Hevia at the Greene School. Although Hevia is not a long term option, she is a great addition for the time being.

At SHS, Mrs. Renee Hevia taught Global Language in 1999, was the foreign language department supervisor, and became assistant principal in 2009.

Hevia retired in 2015 after working as a supervisor and educator for 16 years.

The current assistant principal at Edwin H. Greene School Mrs. Rebecca Heisler is resigning to pursue a career at a local non-profit organization.

“I am sad that Mrs. Heisler is leaving but happy that Mrs. Hevia is coming,” said Danny Thomas, 6.

Principal Mr. Matt Tudor and assistant principal Ms. Marilee Tanner will be welcoming Hevia onboard for the remainder of the school year.

“I am happy that Mrs. Hevia is joining Sycamore again; when I met her she was really nice,” Thomas said.

The search for a permanent assistant principal will continue in the spring.

“I hope the new assistant principal will be nice and friendly,” Thomas said.

If you come in contact with Mrs. Hevia, make sure to give her a warm #SYCAMORESTRONG welcome!
