On Jan. 20, Donald Trump took the oath of office and was sworn in as the 45 president of the United States. The ceremony was held at the Capital. All Photos.
“I have always been into news and government and feel it is important to watch a lot of news and form one’s own opinions on what you hear. When I was in college I interned on Capitol Hill so it was nice being back near the building where I had spent time and to be apart of history.” English teacher Mrs. Marnie May said.
'
After taking the Oath Trump gave his first speech as president. Around Capitol Hill and the National Mall, protests were conducted.
'
While some were violent, police were able to gain control of the situation. The next day a worldwide Women’s March protest was conducted.
'
“It’s important that no matter your political views it is important to get involved and know the issues before you vote, and listen to all sides before making a decision.” May said.
