THINK YOU CAN BEAT US? Mr. Kevin Wittman’s class of seniors had something to prove. They won both Monday and Tuesday before it was said that they maxed out their chances of winning and got out-to-lunch passes instead. “By having the daily competitions, it definitely encouraged more people to actually dress up because there was a reason to,” said Christine Zou, 11.
DRESS TO IMPRESS. Tuesday’s tie-dye was well-represented. The first bell that won the challenge each day was given breakfast by The Leaf. “It excites people because there’s a prize,” Zou said.
CAN YOU TOP THIS? Some teachers went all out with the dressing up as well as preparing for Spirit Week. Art teacher Miss Courtney Farrell asked Mrs. Elise Williams to go to Homecoming with her. It was a resounding yes. “Spirit week simply allows us to get excited for homecoming and the game early, which is something we can look forward to at the end of the week,” Zou said.
SHOW YOUR STYLE. Mrs. Sofia Feist’s class did not give up. Spirit Week has always been a party rouser for homecoming, but participation has never quite been so high or enthusiastic. “The competition really brings together classes-most of us were really motivated to win,” Zou said.
SMILE. Senior Bennett Heyn asked senior Jane Lundgren to homecoming with a poster based off of the English class read. Spirit Week reminded homecoming goers to get ready for the dance and to make sure they have their plans laid out. “Homecoming proposals are so cute, and it’s always fun to see all the posters,” Zou said.
GET READY. On the parade to the game against Middletown, the color guard, band, sports, and homecoming court led the way with cars and floats. Candy was thrown from the floats, and many board members as well as teachers and parents threw candy as well.
WAVE. The juniors in the homecoming court were in the parade, from left to right it is Cameron Wallace, Sophie Burge, Neha Sunil and Theodore Wang. Burge and Wang became princess and prince respectively.
GROOVE. For underclassmen this was the only chance this year to go to a school dance and everyone was decked out with dresses and high heels or ties and button-downs. Everyone enjoyed the opportunity to relax during the school year.
