Home matches generally take place in room 233 on Wednesdays.
-
AQT plays Middleton High School twice throughout the year.
-
The first round of a match is called the team round. This consists of alternating questions between the two teams.
-
Juniors Elizabeth Sheetz, Pavan Nimaganda, and Enrique Rosen and senior Alison Salach played in the team round.
-
Steals are allowed in the team round if a question is answered incorrectly.
-
Quizzers not playing are generally silently cheering their teammates on as AQT is not a spectator sport.
-
After team round, SHS pulls ahead by six points.
-
Next is alphabet round which is the most collaboration oriented round.
-
Each member of alphabet round must combine all their knowledge.
-
To refrain from bias, opposing coaches grade the alphabet round.
-
Lightning round consists of fast paced questions that require the buzzers.
-
Pavan Nimaganda, 11, handles the buzzers while Coach Clark reads the questions.
-
Michael Choi, 11, buzzes in and answers a question regarding physics.
-
The match was a close one and unexpected as SHS was ahead the whole match till lightning round.
