Tourist’s Guide to Cincinnati

With the holiday season approaching quickly, many families have relatives coming in from out of town. As soon as they arrive, the whole family is buzzing with excitement. But after a while, things can get boring. Your relatives might want to look around and see what Cincinnati has to offer. With this guide to the top spots you would love to hit, there will be no hesitation to go around the city and explore.

  • Summit Park is almost a city in itself! With many amazing restaurants, an ice skating rink, multiple playgrounds, and a tower with an amazing view, it is the perfect evening hangout. While smaller children may like running around the field or playing tag, adults can enjoy the scenery and get something to eat or drink. “I live really close to Summit Park and I love having it near me. It’s a great place to go and there are a lot of different things to do there,” said Mya Reardon, 9.

  • Perfect North is a definite must during the winter time. It is a mini ski resort only about 45 minutes away from Cincinnati. There are skis and snowboards available to rent, and there are even coaches ready to help you improve your skills. With hills and trails for any level, ranking from absolute beginner to expert, everyone will be able to enjoy their time there!

  • Kings Island is a highlight of Cincinnati. It is an amusement park with some of the highest and fastest roller coasters in the U.S. As winter approaches and temperatures drop, Kings Island opens Winterfest, a festival where the whole park is decorated for the holiday season and there are many winter-themed activities. Even if your guests are not too keen about riding roller coasters, they can enjoy ice skating, fun games, or a relaxing walk around the park. “I like Kings Island because it has a fun atmosphere and has good food,” said Jeremy Newman, 9.

  • Skyline Chili is a restaurant that Cincinnati is definitely famous for. When someone new to the city comes in for the holidays, this is the first place you should take them to. Skyline’s specialty is spaghetti with chili, topped with a layer of cheese. While it may seem like a weird combo, the taste is something you would not get anywhere else. Freshman Leslie Nordman works at Skyline and said, “Not only is their food really good, but all of the precautions they take to ensure the best quality for their guests is impressive.” In addition, the restaurant is happy to accommodate food restrictions and even have a vegetarian chili—which I strongly recommend.

  • Downtown Cincy is filled with fun. The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge is perfect for a relaxing walk and a great opportunity for some amazing shots of Cincinnati’s skyline. Along with the attractions, there are also many restaurants, ranging from inexpensive to very fancy dining. Additionally, the historical vibe of the area is very unique and special. Your relatives will really enjoy all that downtown has to offer.
