A New Interest For Scary Movies

HORROR. This image captures the face of Braeden Milar, 9, watching the movie “It.” This was not one of his best moments watching, but in the end, he enjoyed the movie with his friends.

Trying something new can be scary at first, especially if it is a horror movie. About three weeks ago, I was hanging out with my friends, and we were not sure what to do.

We all sat down and decided to watch a scary movie, and I was a little shaken up. The following weekend came, and we watched another.

This first one I watched was pretty scary in my opinion, but I went with it, and as the next week came and we were choosing a movie, my friends all chose “It.”  I thought that I was going to cry because of how scared I would be, but found myself laughing instead.

There was a lot more comedy over horror in this movie which surprised me. During the movie I started to become very tired, and I almost fell asleep.  I was able to because the movie was not scary enough to keep me awake. At first, I was hesitant to watch “It,” but only made my mindset stronger for the third week.

The third weekend took a little bit of a turning point.  I was with a couple of friends and we decided to watch another scary movie,  “Truth or Dare.” This one was a real horror movie that scared all of us.

“When we turned on the movie, I had no idea that it was going to be what it was. That was definitely the scariest one we have watched yet,” said Aleyna Duffield, 9.

I did not laugh during this film nor did anyone else.  When I got home, I had to have the company of one of my parents in the room, and could not stand the idea of being alone after that movie.

The variety of horror movies that I have watched in the past three weeks have gotten better and I believe that I have become stronger because of them. I cannot wait to watch more!
