The parade began and ended under a bridge, where participants gathered and prepared. Some of the first vehicles held cross dressers, along with notable leaders and organizers. Hundreds of different companies and organizations were involved in the parade and festival.

June is the month of pride for LGBTQIA+ individuals, and the day before, Cincinnati held its annual pride parade and festival.

The events that took place on Saturday, May 31 ended pride week for our city.

Thousands of people attended, either marching in the parade or watching from the sidelines. Further down from the parade route, at Sawyer’s Point, was the location for hundreds of booths.

Organizations and businesses sold food, projected opportunities, and handed out free gifts and information.

“I walked with Mercy for Animals along with my family. I was able to support two great causes at once,” said Leah Brod, 11.

Sponsors for the event included Krogers, Proctor and Gamble, and Fifth Third Bank.

This is my fourth year on staff. In the past, I've served as Spotlight Chief and Associate Editor. I spend at least 10 hours a week on journalism through The Leaf and as an independent journalist and blogger. I've published with sites like The Fandom News and also "The Cincinnati Enquirer." In my spare time that's not devoted to journalism, I dance with the Flyerettes Varsity Dance Team and participate in Environmental Club and the Science Fair. I also love watching t.v. and general nerdiness. In the future, I plan to major in journalism and minor in environmental science at college. I also run the blog "The Must List" with Benjamin Cohen.
