This year SHS Fashion for the Cure raised $59,000 dollars for The Dragonfly Foundation. All this money is in support of families whose kids are battling cancer. FFTC is an annual event that brings together our entire Sycamore community in appreciating the artistry and skill of its students, all while supporting a good cause. It is one of a kind and finds its way into peoples lives year after year. A week after the 2020 fashion show COVID-19 took hold and FFTC was unfortunately not able to be held in 2021. However, this setback only further motivated the committee, designers, volunteers, and others this year to work hard to come out with a bang for the 2022 show. So, that is exactly what happened. Featured are some notable designers and their collections from the show on February 18, 2022.

SPOTIFY WRAPPED. Another year, another Spotify Wrapped. However this year, it seems to be filled with controversy as to the accuracy of the rankings. Virtually every person that uses Spotify has some issue with their list, whether it is disbelief over their most listened artist or confusion about missing favorites.

LEADING LADY. Her second leading role in her SHS theatre career, junior Payton Hines played the quirky and romantic Juliet, her friendship with Romeo actor Jake Jervis coming in handy as they told a tale of love, woe, and unexpected happiness. Hines has expressed her sadness about how the arts have been severely disadvantaged during the pandemic, but is thrilled to be back on stage. “We are all just so extremely excited to be performing again with the energy of the audience, the lights, and the physical community for being together. While this year looks different and we have faced a new set of challenges, we are just so grateful to be back doing what we love,” Hines said.

Best of Spring Spirit Week
MORGAN. I cut my hair because last year, my childhood friend Patrick Battle lost his life to cancer. He was 17 years old with so many unfulfilled dreams and unlived adventures. Seeing him fight and miss out on life broke my heart...a battle that is all too common for many other pediatric cancer patients. Because of him, I was inspired to give back. I believe that no child or family should go through the painful war of cancer and so I felt like I could help by donating my hair.

Downtown Cincy is filled with fun. The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge is perfect for a relaxing walk and a great opportunity for some amazing shots of Cincinnati’s skyline. Along with the attractions, there are also many restaurants, ranging from inexpensive to very fancy dining. Additionally, the historical vibe of the area is very unique and special. Your relatives will really enjoy all that downtown has to offer.

My name is Taylor Evans and I am a senior this year. Four years later, I once again find myself on the amazing staff of The Leaf as an associate editor and cover story editor. I am so excited to return for my fourth and final year on The Leaf, and I can’t wait for what this year will bring. In my spare time my main hobby is to write, specifically fiction. Over the last six years, I’ve also been working on a young-adult fiction novel, "The Unknown," that has finally been published.  When I’m not writing, I’m reading, and when I’m not reading I’m playing volleyball.  And when all that isn’t enough, I turn to baking, which is a stress reliever- plus, who doesn’t like munching on cookies every once in a while?
