The Varsity Tennis team captured the Division I OTCA State Team Title for the first time last season. They have been training all offseason to try and defend their win this year. Tryouts begin Mar. 9.

With only 61 days until tryouts, the boys tennis team is in the process of training and practicing so they can attempt to repeat their run to an OTCA State Team Title from last season.

Players used their winter break to get better. Senior David Muskal lifted and worked out at The Club at Harper’s Point, and sophomore Noah Stern participated in practice matches to work on his game.

“It was nice to be able to only focus on tennis for two weeks. I feel like I improved my swings and strokes immensely,” Stern said.

The team will continue to work out before school at conditioning sessions Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

“We definitely have big goals for this season. We have to move on from last year’s success, and focus on improving for this season,” senior Deepak Indrakanti said.

Tryouts begin on Mar. 9. The season will continue until the beginning of June. Check out Aves10s.net for up to the minute information on the SHS tennis program.

“Being my last season, I am going to make this one count for sure. I would like to leave with a lasting mark on SHS sports,” Indrakanti said.
