Water polo gears up for state competition
After a long, successful season for both the mens and womens water polo teams, the state competition is just around the corner. The mens team has gone 13-9 so far this season, and the womens team has had a 12-13 record.
The womens state championships will be held on October 21 and 22 at Princeton High School. The Lady Aves are currently seeded as sixth going into the tournament and are hoping to place even higher.
“We started out the season very shakily, but we have learned a lot over the year, and I think we will be able to defeat teams who are ranked higher than us at the torunament,” said Ania Campbell, 10
The mens state championships are held one week later, on October 28 and 29 at Princeton and Mason High School. The Aviators are currently seeded fourth and will be looking for a state title by the month’s end
“We have had some excellent wins and dominating games previously this season, and I think we have an amazing shot at the state title this year,” said captain Kevin Berghoff, 12
With high hopes for state this year, there is a lot of excellence still to come from the Sycamore Water Polo Team.
