Cummins qualifies for state
On Sat., Feb. 24, gymnast Anna Cummins, a junior, competed at the OHSAA sports gymnastics district competition and placed sixth.
Furthermore, Cummins qualified for the state competition on the beam, which will take place in the upcoming week.
Cummins has set her eyes on state for quite a while and could not be happier to compete.
“My goal since eighth grade has been to make it to state. Everyday when I go to practice, I think of qualifying for state and how bad I want it,” Cummins said.
Being a gymnast for the majority of her life, Cummins has earned opportunities to participate in many different meets. But still state holds a special place in her heart.
“State for Sycamore means more to me than any club district, regional, or national meet. It constantly pushes me to work harder and to go beyond my fears,” Cummins said.
Being able to participate at state is a huge honor for Cummins. But she has definitely worked hard to achieve such an important goal.
Thinking about competing at state fills Cummins with nothing but joy.
“I finally made it. I finally achieved my goal of qualifying, and it was the best feeling I have ever experienced. I am still in shock, and I can hardly wait to compete [at state],” Cummins said.
