My name is Carly Thiel and I am one of the newcomers this year in Journalism. I wanted to join Journalism because I could be creative and have fun with my writing. I also wanted to meet new people because everyone told me that you become close to everyone doing Journalism. So far, Journalism has a great environment and I’  m always excited about my 3rd bell because I know I will get to talk to new people and feel comfortable in the class. In my free time, I love doing many things, including a variety of art projects like making string bracelets, playing the ukulele, and even just going outside for an hour with friends. I also have several activities that take up most of my time, including playing lacrosse and volleyball. I’ve worked very hard in each of the sports I participate in and focus most of my time on athletics because they are incredibly important to me and keep me in shape and in a positive mindset. My family and friends are also a very important part of my life; my family has always supported me with everything I do, and they always make me feel welcomed and I love always being with them. My friends are also very important to me because they have helped me get through so many of my problems. I hope I can continue playing sports in college but if not I plan to go to college somewhere in Ohio. I have no clue what I want to major in, but I’m sure that as I expand my knowledge throughout high school I will be able to figure out what I want to have a career in. If you are in high school and still don’t know what classes to take you should definitely choose Journalism.

Graduation time has the power to stir up a wide range of emotions, and this year was certainly no exception for our seniors right here at SHS. During this transitional and emotional time, seniors may be thinking about their next chapter in life, whether it may be the military, developing a trade, taking a gap year, or heading off to college to continue their educational journey. Others may reflect upon the people who helped them arrive at where they are today. In addition, seniors may ruminate over the support from family and friends over the years; the good times and the bad. But nothing makes them think more about their younger years than the annual Senior Walk.

The pandemic has been a huge part of many of our lives. When we grow up how do you think we will explain everything that went on and what do you think it will be like in the future when we don't have to deal with COVID-19 anymore?

RUCKUS.The COVID-19 virus has made many things in school a lot more difficult and complicated, for both online and face-to-face learners. With the threat of another shutdown looming over us, face-to-face teachers that have young children have been dreading the fact that they might have to start teaching online again with an even busier schedule. Click on the link in the bio to see a few examples of some of the ways teachers with young kids may try to balance everything out with their teaching and parenting schedules.
