Sydney Skinner, staff writer
Hi! My name is Sydney Skinner, and I am a senior at Sycamore High School. This is my first year in journalism and I am excited to join such an amazing program! I joined journalism for several reasons, but mostly to learn more about photography and design. Growing up, I always loved taking photos of family and friends, and I am looking forward to learning more about how photography can complement writing to create a complete news story. I have read and been impressed by The Leaf numerous times throughout my high school career and I cannot wait to work with all of the talented writers we have on staff this year.
Outside of school, I play club soccer. I love staying connected to my teammates from other schools, and have met many of my closest friends through my participation in soccer programs. I also play varsity basketball and softball, which has allowed me to build strong relationships in the Sycamore community. Additionally, I enjoy playing the drums and piano in my free time. My current obsession is with Lord Huron when playing the piano and Coldplay on the drumset. Lastly, I absolutely love Batman and will not be accepting any D.C. slander.
I hope to use the lessons I learn in this class to improve my overall communication skills and cannot wait to create this year! Go Aves!
