Hi! My name is Anna Ralston and I am a freshman at Sycamore High School.  I decided to join journalism because I wanted to become better at writing and it sounded like lots of fun. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends, going outside, playing with my dog, or napping. When I grow up I aspire to be a psychologist.  I find psychology very interesting and I wanna do everything I can to help people.

As a member of journalism, I hope to make new friends, learn new things, and become a better writer.  Over quarantine, I picked up a lot of new things including playing the ukulele and creating friendship bracelets.  Over quarantine, I also got closer to some people and unfortunately drifted with others. I’m super happy to be back in school and have already made new friends.  I can’t wait to get back to how things were before but we are doing this to keep as many people as we can safe and healthy. I believe that everything happens for a reason but I haven’t come up with any ideas of why this is happening yet.

Some things that are important to me are family, friends, and doing well in school.  Every Sunday my family has something we call family dinner.  This is when my whole family goes to my grandparents’ house and has dinner. I enjoy this because I love seeing my grandparents and hanging out with my cousin. I also, love making sure that all of my friends know how important they are to me.  Something I need to start doing more is telling them how much they mean to me and how much they have helped me in life. I challenge you to reach out to your friends and tell them how important they are to you.  Now if you read all of that you are pretty cool and I thank you!  I encourage you to join journalism next year if you have some extra time in your schedule!

TAKE ACTION. For most of us growing up, homelessness and poverty are things that we have not had to worry much about. However, some are not so lucky. According to the Greater Cincinnati Coalition for the Homeless, “3.5 million Americans experience homelessness each year.” However, ever since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic last year, that number has been on a rise. BREAK TIME. A typical spring break consists of traveling, spending time with friends and family, or even just relaxing by yourself. It's a nice vacation from reality. However, with the pandemic still hanging over us, this year is going to look a whole lot different than past years. Some people may be traveling in a safe and cautious manner while others think it may be best to stay home for the week off.

VIRTUAL VS. F2F. With this one week being the first week of virtual school for a lot of the student body adjustments are being made. While some students prefer the virtual schooling option over face to face, others are struggling. Some like the freedom of virtual school while others prefer the routine of face to face.

Virtual or Face to Face?

Which schooling system do students prefer?

BEEP! BEEP! That dreadful sound of an alarm in the morning. You look out the window and realize how light it really is outside. Now how did that happen? Well, Saturday night was daylight savings and all of the clocks in the US fell back 1 hour. We are now officially out of daylight savings time. The darkness though unfortunately gives Vivian Henry, 9, a “sad vibe.”

Daylight savings time is over

Why does the time change anyways?
