Athletes sign on futures

On Nov. 8, SHS celebrates extraordinary athletes who will continue their sports in college. The ceremony takes place in the HUB at 1:45 p.m.

This is the first of three National Signing Day Recognition ceremonies taking place this school year.

The two athletes honored at this ceremony are seniors Jessica Fehr and Alex Thornberry. Fehr will be playing softball with the University of Evansville.

“They have a really great study abroad program, my mom loved it, and I heard so many great things from alumni. I will have a great education from professors that will know my name because it is a very small school.

“I will get to play all the big schools that I grew up watching on TV like Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Oklahoma and others,” Fehr said.

Thornberry will play baseball with Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

“It’s extremely humbling knowing that all of the hard work I have put in throughout the years has finally paid off. People are able to see stats and what I do on the field, but people don’t see the five a.m. workouts, sacrificed weekend nights, and the after practice work that I put in. Knowing that everything has payed off is the best feeling in the world. I could not be happier with my decision, and I cannot wait to be a Crimson Hawk,” Thornberry said.
