Emma Chi, Staff Writer

Hi! My name is Emma, and I am a freshman as Sycamore High School. I just moved here this year from Shanghai, China. I moved because of my parents’ jobs. Back in Shanghai, I also wrote articles for our school’s news team, reporting on activities throughout the school year. This year, I want to not only write about the school’s activities, but I also want to learn about how to cover bigger issues in the world right now. I think that journalism can increase my awareness of the world and also improve my writing skills.

As for some hobbies, I enjoy are debating and ice skating. As a debater, I mainly write opinion and argumentative essays so I think it is important to broaden my style of writing and also to improve my content for opinion writing, and that is why I joined Journalism. I hope to achieve that this year in Journalism class!

Is it a mentality that you need to take some action when the world is out of control? Or other reasons such as logistics?
