Coach John Benham has been the SHS Boys Cross Country coach for six years while simultaneously working at Mason as an Art teacher. Over the course of those six years he has raised awareness for Breast Cancer, Alzheimer's, ALS, Brain Cancer, Autism, and finally Mental Health and Suicide Prevention. “It’s been a really great four years, getting to do something so impactful with such a large group of people,” Isakson said.

Each grade is assigned a food group to bring to pasta parties. The location is determined by which teammate signs up to host, and usually host homes are not repeated. The team was about sixty girls last season, so a runner with a spacious house usually hosts. Below is the varsity team, which varies for each meet. JV and Varsity have pasta parties together.

The coaches and the team captains have access to the Twitter account to post updates for teammates and runners. Captains are elected by the runners, and there are typically three, with one SALT representative. Captains will be chosen during summer conditioning, and from there they will help the coaches in leading workouts and guiding their teammates.
