I am a freshman and I’m new to journalism. So far this year I have had my very first article be featured in the second issue of The Leaf. I joined journalism not only because I love to write, but also because I’d love to get better at journalistic writing. I’m ecstatic to be a new member on the staff. Although I’m a beginner in journalistic writing, I have had previous experiences with competition writing in junior high. I was a part of the Power of the Pen team and together we won many titles and awards around the state. In my free time you can usually find me dancing at the dance studio I attend in Loveland. For 12 hours each week I practice with a dance team, in preparation for dance competitions that start in Feb. I also love playing the piano, which I have been playing for eight years.

In your schools, homes, or basically anywhere you go in the past few days, these type questions have most likely filled the air. This is because of the new app sweeping the nation: Trivia Crack!
“I’ve had [Trivia Crack] for like 3 weeks and I got it because my step sister was playing it at dinner and it looked fun,” freshman Lilah Foley said.
This app, which is quickly spreading its way to cellphones across the campus, consists of two players who spin a rainbow trivia wheel. On the wheel, there are a few different categories of trivia questions you can answer.
“People like to prove they’re smarter than their friends [when playing against them],” freshman Nathan Kraft said.
After the spinner lands on either the history, sports, geography, entertainment, art, science, or a crown (which gives you the power to choose what type of question you want) you have 30 seconds to answer a random trivia question.
If you answer a question correctly, you get to spin the rainbow wheel again. However, if you get the question incorrect, the other opponent gets to spin the wheel.
Once you answer three answers in a row correctly, you have the chance to earn a character, which in this case stands as a trophy. In total, there are six characters you can earn and the first player to win all six, wins the game.
