I am senior at SHS and this is my third year on the staff of The Leaf. This year I am a managing editor for The Leaf. On top of journalism I swim competitively and am very involved in theater here. Outside of school, I love the outdoors. I am an avid whitewater kayaker, and I enjoy sharing my love of nature with others.

Senior Ben Thiss dives off the blocks as the third leg of the 400 freestyle relay at the State Competition. This relay was composed of senior Mark Hancher, senior John Heldman, Thiss, and senior Isaac Goldstein. They made finals and placed 15th.

Senior Benjamin Thiss is a sprint freestyler for the team, competing in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle. Last season he led off the 400 freestyle relay at states. This year, he hopes to make an even bigger impact.

“Songs of the African Sun” is a 24-page book filled with ten pictures and ten poems from Driehaus’ trip to Swaziland. Her favorite poem is about her encounter with a lion on one of her safaris. In that poem she portrays her jeep as a creature and the lion as a king.

Elizabeth Rosenberg, '14, performs at the Overture Award finals in the Vocal Music category. She represented the Karl Resnik Studio. Rosenberg is now studying vocal performance at the Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music.

'Things Fall Apart' follows the story of Okonkwo, a leader in a fictional clan in Nigeria. As the story progresses, it becomes apparent that internal and external forces are causing things to fall apart. Perspective plays a key role in how certain characters view others.

Senior Anthony Popenoe performs in the Aves Theatre’s production of Aida. In "The Odyssey” he will be playing the roles of Menelaus, the blind singer, a sailor, and a suitor, to name a few. Due to the ensemble nature of this show, almost every actor will be portraying multiple characters in the show.

A group of seniors last year dressed up as cowboys and Indians. They were one of the numerous group costumes at Senior Halloween last year. At the end of the day, awards are given out by category, such as “Best Group Costume.” This group did not win an award, but they still had a great time.
