GET COMFY. Junior Jessica Lu reads the AP Lang novel “Station Eleven.” This adventure book has been a favorite amonst many students who take AP Lang. Students’ grades for the discussion board on Blackboard have been based on insight levels, sharing ideas consistently, and creating discussion rather than talking about only one’s own ideas. Many AP Lang students are now moving on to AP Literature and Composition and will be reading their summer reading books and poetry over the summer.

Seniors in AP English Literature and Composition are currently in the middle of reading William Shakespeare’s tragedy “Hamlet.” They are analyzing the role of revenge in the play as well as the development of Hamlet and the characterization of women. “The kids seem to enjoy and get a lot from the play. As a teacher, there are lots of elements for me to work with; I can play movie adaptations, have the kids make videos and enact the play, and much more,” said Mr. Tom Gaffigan, AP Literature teacher.

PICK UP YOUR PEN. Advanced Creative Writing is a class for those who have gone through Creative Writing, but if the student talks to Mrs. Sophia Feist, they may be able to skip the prerequisite. Neither of the classes are tied to the club, so any student can come to the club. “At the end we open the floor for people to share their writing if they’d like for feedback or support,” said Maia Davidson, 12, CWC president.
