Hi,
I’m Annie Marsh! I’m a senior at SHS and I am a creative director for The Leaf. I joined the journalism team because I love to write and I love the idea of being able to broadcast my voice to the whole school. Having the means to represent my fellow students and speak out about issues has been extremely rewarding.
I am also the president of Mindfulness Group and I participate in Model UN.
I am passionate about animal rights, fashion, and creative writing, and I enjoy hiking, yoga, and going on adventures with my friends.
My favorite shows are “New Girl” and “The Office.”
When I’m not enjoying free time filled with friends and shows, I am working to further my goals at school and at home.
I have learned a lot during my three years on The Leaf staff and throughout my four years in high school; building relationships with teachers and peers and broadening my view of the world have been just a couple of the rewards of being apart of The Leaf.

I love my Golden Retriever Luna, and I have been extra careful about her socializing with other dogs,” said Rishav Dasgupta, 12. A participant in Cincinnati’s Women’s March holds a sign that reads: “Positive consent is the only consent.” Sexual assault stories are being shared worldwide via the #MeToo movement, and an exhibition in Belgium featuring victims’ clothing worn at the time they were assaulted seeks to cease the belief that clothing determines consent. “I believe in the power and rights of women, and no matter what someone is wearing, it does not excuse another person’s vile actions,” said Thea Ferdinand, 12.

RIP. Students have learned a hard lesson after the death of popular video-sharing app Vine in January. “I have had many regrets in my seventeen and a half years of life. One of them was never appreciating Vine for what it was until it was too late. It has determined so much of our culture today - indeed, you do it for the Vine, and the Vine only,” said Kiri Wang, 12. Appreciating the small things in life like a good chuckle from a Vine is vital to our well being, and students continue to remember the app in its glory days.

HELP. Retired Marine Matt Raible cuddles Jason, a service dog who aids him with the symptoms of both physical disabilities and PTSD. Therapy dogs can complete tasks for injured veterans and can also provide a sense of safety and companionship to those suffering with PTSD. This Veterans’ Day, on November 11, remember to thank a veteran and remember to fight for them the other 364 days of the year.

Long (far left) and her squad have to juggle not only pompoms but also school and their friends. “Though cheer takes up a good portion of my time and will take even more with the upcoming competition, it’s not too hard to handle for me. It does take away my time on weeknights to do my homework or spend time with my family, but that’s made up on the weekends because, excluding Friday nights, we don’t have cheer on the weekends,” Long said. The squad has grown close through years of cheer and will continue to light up the stands of SHS’ games and pep rallies.
