Max Torem, News Chief

Hello, and welcome to my profile! My name is Max Torem and I am a senior this year at Sycamore High School. This is my third year on staff and I am the News Section editor. As the editor of the news section, it is my duty to decide which stories to run based on timeliness, proximity, accuracy of information, and many other important factors. I also write a monthly column to be put in the print version of The Leaf. Don't get me wrong, I love what I do here and I love writing for a nationally awarded publication, but I also enjoy activities outside of the classroom. I have a passion for professional sports. My father, raised in Akron, Ohio, has raised me to be a fan of the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Cleveland Indians. Ever since I began showing interest in professional sports, he has taken me to many their home games. We try to make it up to Cleveland about three or four times a year. My desire to help others in need is another huge part of my life. I enjoy seeing other people succeed because I was able to help them. This is the exact reason why I enrolled myself to become a Fast Track Mentor. Fast Track is a program at SHS that allows people like me to help other students who are struggling with academics. The most rewarding part of Fast Track is by far the look on students’ faces when they see how good their grades are. S far as this year, I am excited to see which university I will attend after my high school career is over. Thank you for visiting my profile and please have a great rest of your day.

Listed here are all of the letter grades for the top 25 fast food and “fast casual” restaurants in the U.S. Although 16 out of 25 restaurants received a failing grade, this is an improvement from last year. Keep in mind, the grade can be dependent on just on or on multiple available meat products.

When it comes to luxury transportation companies, Uber is king. Lyft is the main competitor and is having a very tough time keeping up with the success of Uber. Uber has been international for years and Lyft has yet to exit the U.S.

The past few years, marijuana legalization has been an extremely hot topic. With states like Colorado and California fully legalizing pot, many states are eager to follow. The problem is how to do it in such a way that it is fair to everyone.

This is one of the couple waste stations you will find around the commons. Each color corresponds with what types of items are the proper ones to toss in the bin. These stations are placed on two separate ends of the commons.

Students utilize their snow day as an excuse to go sledding. “What started as a few friends wanting to have a snowball fight became an escape from the notorious homework load of a weekend. Much to our surprise, we ended the day surrounded by many of our closest friends and filled with new fond memories,” said graduate Alora Reiff. Reiff along with graduates Gabriela Godinez-Feregrino, Ryan Stonerberger and Emily Winchell sat on multiple sleds holding each others legs as they rolled down in hill in Dulle Park.
