Joshua Patterson , OpEd Chief

Hi, my name is Josh Patterson. I have been on the Leaf for all four years of my high school career. It is kind of bittersweet typing that considering the time has passed so quickly. After I graduate I would like to pursue a major in political-science and economics, with a possible minor in communications. The person that inspired me to pursue this was Jon Stewart. I watched him ever since I stumbled upon a clip of his show on the internet, and I immediately fell in love with the show. The way he conveyed his message, along with his humor resonated with me and I have tried to put that level of thought and energy into my own writing and behavior. My favorite topics to write about are generally Sports or A&E, but most things that I write about are my opinion on these topics. I also enjoy tackling a lot of social issues. The thing I enjoy the most about being in journalism is the ability to give people a voice. As someone who is in charge of the opinion section, I pride myself in being able to print people’s voices and opinions on a variety of issues.

A platoon system, as Coach John Calipari calls it, is when you have two groups of five that rotate in and out of the game. Kentucky has two units of five that can beat anyone’s best five.
