Lindsey Brinkman: Managing Editor

Lindsey Brinkman, Managing Editor

Hello online reader! My name is Lindsey Brinkman and I am a senior, thus making this my fourth and final year on the Leaf staff.

I currently hold the position of one of the two Managing Editors and I am also the Package Chief, which basically means I help design, edit, and fix pages for our news magazine. Over the course of my time in the journalism program, I have learned to use Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, but I have found every day I learn something new!

Even though I have spent most of my high school life doing something involved with journalism, I have made sure to get involved with other activities too. Currently, I am apart of the color guard, winter guard, and the fencing club. As well as those few commitments, I have played the cello for eight years now, and I am a part of the school Symphonic Orchestra. In orchestra, I hold the position as Vice President! This is my first year in this position, and I have enjoyed every aspect of it so far. As well as holding a position with the Orchestra Council, I am also part of the marching band Leadership Team.

All in all, thank you for stopping by and supporting The Leaf! I hope you can find something that sparks your interest! And, I hope you have a happy and positive day!

THAT’S A WRAP. Marching band finishes their season strong after competing in their final performance at Mason. Members spend a lot of time together, so oftentimes it is hard for seniors to move on past the 900 hours put towards band. However, they often always do and learn to replace all of that time with other things that brings them joy.

SURPRISE. While enjoying a Chipotle bowl I was sadly greeted with staples in my bite. Although I was not harmed, this event truly made me question how dependent Americans are on others for meals. What I found was shocking and has lead me to try and be better at eating at home more.

EPCOT. Two years ago the orchestra and marching band took a trip to Disney World. Unlike this year, the group went to Hollywood Studios instead of Animal Kingdom. “As a sophomore, I have not gone on this trip with the orchestra yet. I am excited to go, but I am dreading the long drive,” said Etienne Mueller, 10.

DECISION. Students go online to make the choices for their next year classes. One part that students struggle with is if they should take advanced placement (AP) classes or not. AP classes are very beneficial but also have some negative aspects.

From Nov. 9 through the 13, the marching band and orchestra went to Disney World to perform music they have worked very hard on. The trip consisted of three days actually in the park, with one day the orchestra having a concert in Disney Springs, and another the band paraded through epcot. Both groups also participated in workshops to better their skills.
